LASTOVSKI ZAROBLJENI VALOVI

 ISLAND TRAPPED WAVES

 ISLAND TRAPPED WAVES

Island Trapped Waves (ITWs) around Lastovo are a focal point of biological regeneration in the Adriatic.
The phenomenon occurs in only a few island locations in the world (Hawaii, Bermuda, Gotland, Lastovo.) The favorable geographical position of the island of Lastovo in relation to the Adriatic sea currents creates a specific micro-situation in which the production of marine bioorganisms increases significantly, thereby contributing to the much-needed regeneration of nature in times of ecological crisis. The phenomenon was discovered and investigated by a team of scientists from the Zagreb Faculty of Science, led by Dr. Zrinka Ljubešić.
The Making the Invisible Visible program is primarily focused on educating the public about this valuable phenomenon. With this goal in mind, a series of activities for professionals and the general public will be held in Zagreb during a week in March

@ Urania
27.3.2026.
09 - 17h
Konferencija Učiniti nevidljivo vidljivim (Making the Invisible Visible) povezuje umjetnike, znanstvenike, kustose, edukatore i donositelje odluka, zainteresirane za istraživanje novih okvira ekološkog angažmana te istražuje načine na koje se kreativne i znanstvene prakse udružuju kako bi produbile razumijevanje prirode i inspirirale transformativne akcije.
Program konferencije ukratko:
- Predavanja i diskusije stručnjaka i donosioca odluka iz područja umjetnosti i znanosti
- Tematska izložba, kreativna radionica
- Debata mladih na temu ekologije

The
Making the Invisible Visible conference brings together artists, scientists, curators, educators and decision-makers interested in exploring new frameworks for environmental engagement and explores the ways in which creative and scientific practices come together to deepen understanding of nature and inspire transformative action.
The conference program in brief:
- Lectures and discussions by experts and decision-makers in the fields of art and science
- Thematic exhibition, creative workshop
- Youth debate on ecology

Radionica izrade meduza od PET plastike - ADAF

PET plastic medusa making workshop - ADAF

-

In collaboration with the Athens Digital Arts Festival (ADAF), a workshop on making jellyfish from PET plastic bottles is taking place. Jellyfish become part of a constantly updated interactive installation by artist Yiannis Kranidiotis, who, through a combination of light and sound, draws attention to the increasingly widespread problem of invasive species and their negative impact on the environment. In this case, they are mutant plastic jellyfish that expand uncontrollably and take over the space, and at the same time PET plastic is used as the body of the jellyfish, turning it from waste into an art material.
